Do You Own a Family Pet
If you own a family pet, you’ll be interested to know that according to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association’s (APPMA) new 2007-2008 National Pet Owners Survey, 63 percent of American households have a pet. That’s over 71,000,000 households and many of those have multiple pets. We are a multi pet household – we have a rescued toy poodle and three feral cats. Of our own eight grown children, five have a total of 12 pets and the other three are also contemplating getting one or more in the near future.
Pets are not just for children
Pets are not just for children. No one seems to be immune to the openness, friendliness, and loyalty domesticated animals have for their owners and they provide endless hours of enjoyment. There are many roles that animals play, the most important bing the lesson they teach us that not every being can take care of him or her self. The family pet, whether it be a dog, a cat, a bird, or a fish needs someone to take care of them. And, that is something about which everyone should be fully aware.
Too many people adopt animals as pets without fully considering the fact that someone will have to take care of them. That may mean walking a dog several times a day; cleaning a litter box or a bird cage on a daily basis; daily feeding of your fish and cleaning their tank, regularly.
